Preserving Chinese Canadian Heritage: MDG188
Welcome to the Sien Lok Society of Calgary, an inclusive space devoted to Chinese culture in the heart of Calgary! We strive to preserve the values of cultural diversity by promoting the Chinese Canadian culture throughout Canada. We function as a not-for-profit entity focused on the values of historic preservation, cultural diversity, cooperation, harmony, and family. As a charitable organization, we organize donation or fundraising drives for various social causes like the Cancer Society, to give back to our community. We invite you to join us in the betterment, promotion, and preservation of the Chinese Canadian culture.
Our Journey
Sien Lok Society was incorporated in 1968 as a response to a threat to Calgary’s current Chinatown. The present Chinatown is the third site in Calgary; the first one was destroyed, and the second one was moved. Without the help of community associations 50 years ago, Calgary would not have a Chinatown.
Through various donations
and some government funding, we are able to give back to
our community in Calgary. Each of our members is driven
towards the sole motive of establishing broad ties with
our culturally diverse communities. Throughout the year,
we conduct many activities and initiatives for the
involvement of interested individuals in the Chinese
Canadian culture.
We welcome you to join us
in our programs and events that we organize throughout
the year. If you want to do your bit, you can
volunteer to become a part of the
Sien Lok family. Reach out to
us to learn more about what
we do.
